Course Description:conference

This conference will provide participants with a toolkit of practical solutions to help them and their colleagues addressthe safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) needs of their bariatric patients. Based upon a mixture of case study presentations, practical solutions, and available resources, the conference takes the participant through the bariatric patient’s journey from admission via the ER, or as an elective admission via the OR, through a variety of departments they may visit during their stay, and on through to discharge and the challenges that in itself can create.

Target Audience:
Safe patient handling and mobility leaders, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, bariatric nurse specialists, risk managers, case managers, nurse/department managers, and any discipline who is involved with guldmannfacilitating a high quality of care for the patient of size.

Conference Objectives:
Following attendance at this conference the participant will be able to:
1. Determine which technologies will be most helpful in providing dignified care to a bariatric patient.
2. Recognize the specific challenges in meeting the needs of the bariatric patient in different clinical areas.
3. Apply best practice and consideration for the unique needs of the patient of size in a healthcare setting.
4. Adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for the bariatric patient.
